Publisher leaps back to profits

It can be easy for a business to find itself with cash-flow problems - especially when it is investing in modernisation and expansion plans.

This was the case for Quantum Strategic Solutions (QSS) when they came to Clarke Bell for help. The London-based company publishes industry journals and stationary catalogues, and found itself with a cash-flow problem following the combined expenses of re-branding the business and launching new titles.

David Collingbourne, the Managing Director at QSS, contacted his accountants to seek their advice. They recognised that QSS needed the specialist services provided by a firm of Insolvency Practitioners, so they referred him to Clarke Bell's office in Manchester.

John Bell of Clarke Bell, seeing that he could help QSS get out of this difficult situation, moved quickly into action. Applying the new insolvency provisions granted in the Enterprise Act 2002, QSS was placed into Administration with its assets and goodwill being sold back to Mr Collingbourne. The result was that the business is once again flourishing.

Mr Collingbourne said:

"I am relieved that we were advised to speak to Clarke Bell because they steered us through a worrying time. We are now able to focus our thoughts and resources to the future and we have already seen a significant increase in our profits."

John Bell, the senior partner at Clarke Bell, said:

"I'm delighted things have gone so well for QSS. They are a very well organised firm and I am sure under David's direction they will continue to prosper."....
